The most used and versatile length of canoe. Our Wilderness 16 uses strong components of the much loved prospector canoe family. We have flattened the mid section of the hull by a small margin to create an incredibly stable canoe. This coupled with the rocker of a prospector has made a canoe that is easy to get into, paddle and maneuver. The Wilderness 16 also carries it width further forward creating room for more gear and add to its stability. To make sure you can paddle in waves and rough water the bow and stern come up enough for a dry and fun ride! We tested the design by having our guiding company run it around Canada’s famous Bowron lakes and at our rental centre at Elk Island National Park. In both scenarios it excelled! Being a 16 foot canoe it works wonderfully tandem and solo. This canoe has also been expedition tested with families of 3 complete with coolers and gear.
Built with our of specially ordered fibreglass and aramid composite materials and with our proprietary extruded aluminum gunnels, these canoes are strong and light.
